Traditional Climbing 1: Gear Placements and Anchoring

A limited offering at one of the best trad climbing areas in the southwest: Cochise Stronghold!

Traditional Climbing 1 is the first of three courses desiged to expand technical climbing knowledge from sport climbing ino the realm of "trad" climbing. This course is designed with ground-based practice allowing participants to:

explore the gear used in traditional climbing
understand the intended purposes and limitations of the gear
progress to making gear placements
practice anchor building

This full-day course ends with participants toprope climbing to see how gear is used in single-pitch terrain. Participants are responsiable for their own transportation as well as food and drink for this full-day course. Prerequisite sport climbing experience is required.
